What's the contest about? Why should you vote for us?

You may be asking yourself, "what is this contest about? why should I vote for this couple? I don't know them."

The contest is simple. Cate&Barrel is offering to pay for our wedding...well, the contest winners wedding. They will put on a $100,000 wedding and will work with local companies, to plan and then broadcast (via print and advertisement) the wedding nationwide. Crate&Barrel picks the location of the wedding, but as far as I'm aware the winner are allowed some input on what they would like.
To be considered to win the grand prize, we need to be voted into the top 50 couples by March 31, 2010. This means we need approx 1,000 votes, and were hoping the Asheville community will help us to get to that spot!

What's in it for Asheville? IF we were the winner, this would give Asheville some amazing publicity. This could bring in weddings, new tourists, and just overall exposure for a city that is already amazing, but hopefully will bring tourist (which equals $ for the city), possibly new businesses, and again overall exposure.

We would love your support, so here's a little more about Scott and myself. He is 33, I'm 25. He is previously married, and has 4 amazing children that I love with all of my heart. He is originally from Madison County and grew up here loving the mountains. I am from Florida, and never thought I could leave the beach...but Asheville is a special place that I never knew existed...and I'm so glad to have moved here!! We've been dating for over 3 years now, but I originally met him when I was 9 years old. He is the older bother of my two best friends...who just happened to live up the street from me growing up. My friends moved away when I was about 13, and we've always visited each other. While attending college at the University of Central Florida Scott made a trip down to visit some family and we decided to go out (just as an FYI he had been divorced for approx 3 years). We went out that night and the rest is history. I spent the next year and a half on the road visiting him, (and he did the same). I moved to Asheville in December of 2007. We were engaged in September, and plan to be married hopefully at the end of this year or sometime in the beginning of 2011. We both have large families that live in NC, TN, FL, NJ...and a few other places so having a wedding paid for by a company would be amazing!!! Scott currently owns a business (that spreads a long the east coast), and his dream which has now become a dream of mine is to some day open a non-profit in Asheville. We want the organization to support children. I just recently started volunteering at the Humane Society in Asheville, and I love it!!! We are a young fun loving couple who are proud to say we live in Asheville!

Please support a local couple trying to start their life together, and build an amazing family...of our own, and our community.

The Boy Next Door

The Boy Next Door

Our love story.

A classic case of “Geez! Your older brother is so cute”. The summer of 1993, my crush, a 17-year-old, was a far reach for this gangly, freckled face 9-year-old. His sisters; my best friends, lived a few doors down and claimed me as a part of their family. As life often happens, my friends moved away. I went away to college and my friends' brother got married! I left my love life in the hands of fate. Years later our paths crossed again and our future together began. Finally.

Three important details about our Ultimate Wedding.

1. A relaxed environment, but pulsing with excitement as all of our friends and family connect as a new family. 2. Vintage: An old low country that could only be found in Charleston South Carolina. 3. Big Band (Frank Sinatra, etc.) live musical entertainment that captures our fun loving spirits.

Our everyday dream day.

The usual Sunday of "organized chaos" when our family gets together. Forty or more of my favorite people meet at Aunt Pat's for some catching up and telling the same adorable stories of those present and those that have past. We have heard them a thousand times but it wouldn't be the same without them. The night winds down as we sip our wine and absorb the new addition of memories we made today.
